Yelp will answer your leads for you now. Here is what that means for home service businesses

You're on a roof, or under a sink, and your phone buzzes with a Yelp quote request. You know the faster you answer, the better your shot at the job. You also know you can't answer right now. Yelp just announced a fix for that exact moment, and it's easy to miss.
What Yelp announced
On Oct 20, 2026, Yelp put out its fall product release, more than 30 new features. Most of the headlines were about the Yelp Assistant chatbot and restaurant tools. The part that matters for plumbers, roofers, movers and other trades was further down.
Smart Lead Reply. This is an AI agent that steps in right away when someone sends a project through Request a Quote. It answers their questions, gathers the project details and qualifies the lead, using what's already on the business's Yelp page and account. Owners can add a scheduling link, list their services, set pricing or promos, and pick the questions it should ask. Once a lead is qualified, it shares the scheduling link so the customer can book. Every conversation is logged in the Yelp inbox, and the owner gets a heads up to pick up where it left off.
It rolls out in November and costs $30 a month, for businesses in eligible Request a Quote categories like movers, roofers, plumbers, home cleaners, contractors and electricians.
Booking and lead integrations. Businesses that schedule with ServiceTitan or Housecall Pro can now let customers book straight from Yelp. The booking link shows up on the business page, in search results, in Yelp Assistant and in Yelp messages. With the new Jobber and Workiz integrations, Request a Quote leads flow right into those tools with the job details attached. Multi-location businesses also get one inbox for leads from every location.
Why this matters if you run marketing for the trades
A lot of what agencies set up for home service clients is speed: answer every lead fast, ask the right questions, get it on the calendar. That's a big part of why people pay for tools like HighLevel (from $97 a month), Podium or NiceJob (from $75 a month).
Now Yelp does a slice of that work itself, for Yelp leads only, for $30 a month. That's not a replacement for a full system. It won't follow up with your Google leads, your website form or your missed calls. It won't ask for reviews across platforms the way NiceJob or Birdeye do. But for a business that gets a real share of its work from Yelp, it closes the gap between "lead came in" and "someone answered."
A few plain thoughts:
- If Yelp is a big lead source, test it. One month at $30 tells you fast whether quicker replies turn into more booked jobs.
- Check where your leads land. If a client runs on Jobber, Workiz, ServiceTitan or Housecall Pro, connecting Yelp means one less inbox to watch.
- Agencies, don't fight it. Your value is the whole picture: every channel, every follow up, every review. Let Yelp handle Yelp, and make sure the rest is just as quick.
- Keep Yelp and Google in sync. If the AI answers from the Yelp page, that page has to be right. Same name, hours, services and pricing as the Google Business Profile, so customers get the same answer everywhere.
One honest note: this hasn't rolled out yet, so nobody knows how good the replies will be. Read the first few conversations closely before you trust it with every lead.
If you're comparing follow up tools for your clients, start with HighLevel. It covers texting, email, reviews and automations across every channel, not just Yelp.
